The metadata describing an entity is provided by the registrants to the Registration Agency (RA) which provides the registration service. The metadata must follow strict rules which are guided by a set of principles derived from the INDECS (interoperability of data in e-commerce systems) project. The aim is to achieve metadata interoperability and the automated integration of metadata in the DOI System.
